Hand lettering of a different nature

I shot this video of road painting being done near Lewisham in London. It reminded me that often as designers we think of hand lettering as this high-end artform, in sign painting or chalkboard art, or within the sketchbook pages of artists like Seb Lester. But this road painting is just as skilled and crafted as anything in the design world, with little or no attention being paid to it or asked for it. So to these letter artists just going on about their job.. thank you 🙂 *Update: Since I posted this I found out that designer Tom Williams filmed these guys from his window a few years back and it was picked up by Creative Review. I love how they use the stick for kerning.
